Angry Birds!!! Why Must You Make Me LOVE YOU!!!
Based on everything I’ve heard about how casual games will lead to the end of hardcore gaming, I should hate Angry Birds, leader of the casual game revolution. But I don’t… I love angry birds. I love sitting on the train, taking out my Galaxy Nexus and getting my Angry Birds on. I recently got Angry Birds Space, which is even more awesome than regular Angry Birds.
Anyway, I actually believe that casual games are actually bringing more people into the gaming scene, who could eventually become hardcore, Halo playin’ gamers. I don’t believe that casual games are in anyway leading to the death of hardcore games. If anything, Angry Birds has proven that Casual Games can have a place in even the most hardcore gamer’s life. So no matter who you are, go download Angry Birds Space now!!! It will make you happy.
Madden 13 For The Vita Won’t Share Saves… WTF
I was in class the other day and this Vita commercial came up:
Im not sure that it is a good thing that now thanks to the Vita and Cross-Play, you can continually play the same game, everywhere, all the time. I think there is something to going outside and staring at things other than a smaller version of the game you were just playing on your PS3… But I digress… I guess it is pretty cool…
Regardless, I just read this article on IGN, that talks about how Madden 13 will not adopt this feature that was basically made for Madden. Fail. Either way you should read the article… And hold off on buying a Vita if you are a sports fan…
Prototype 2: Damn Good Fun
I wasn’t a big fan of the first Prototype. For me, both Crackdown and Infamous were waaaaaay better superhero, open-world games. But I gotta say, Prototype 2 is pretty damn fun. It finds that perfect balance of upgrading your character to ridiculous levels, where you really do feel like the ultimate badass, while still remaining (fairly) challenging. The targeting system can be a bitch, as it apparently decides on its own, which things are most important to target… As a result I am often left frantically trying to lock on to my desired target in the heat of battle… LAme.
But this problem aside, the game is really a ton of fun. While the complaints of some that the missions are a bit repetitive, are reasonable, the point is that you upgrade so fast and gain so many new abilities, that missions never feel or play the same as you progress. The point of Prototype 2 is that you are a badass that can F!@# $#!T up… And it overachieves at this. Watch out Crackdown… There’s a new sheriff in town…
GamesRBad4U Blog Review
I received My first ever legit message the other day from a fellow blogger. He requested that I review his video game comic strip GamesRBad4U. The Blog is a satiric comic strip that makes fun of the misconception that games can cause kids to commit real world horrors. The premise of the comics is that each comic covers a game: Dead Space, Halo, Tetris, etc., then proceeds to tell a story of the worst possible acts that a kid could commit under the influence of these games. The blog also reposts some really good fan art.
I like the premise of the blog as I recently did a big project about how video games do not actually cause kids to be violent. In fact they can be quite beneficial. Anyway, while I felt some of the comics fell flat, and others were good, I really loved the Tetris strip (pictured below) as it was by far the most clever. If they can produce more comics on this level the blog could easily be great. Keep up the good work!
Sony is in Trouble…
I grew up with Sony. Since I was a kid my dad always praised Sony as being the pinnacle of electronics excellence. To this day he will not buy any piece of Audio/Video equipment unless it has the ‘Sony’ logo embossed on it. The OG Playstation is a tie for my favorite system of all time (SNES being the other one). As we recently saw, I love my Vita as well and think it is a fantastic little piece of gaming tech.
This is why I was so sad to read this article in the times titled How the Tech Parade Passed Sony By.
The article talks about how Samsung has blown by sony in virtually every major market, especially TVs. Sadly, I have to agree, I own a Samsung LED TV… But this does not mean I don’t still love Sony. I will always continue to support them, but they need to earn that support. So come on Sony! Make some awesome TVs and I will buy them!

GameSpy Hates Games For Windows Live As Well…
I read this article by GameSpy and boy did it make me happy (credit to them for the image). The opinion piece talks about how god awful Microsoft’s Games For Windows LIVE is for PC gamers. Apparently publishers agree as many have dropped GFWL. As you may recall I recently wrote a blog about how my Xbox LIVE account got hacked through GFWL, and how awful the process was. To make matters worse, I couldn’t access my saves offline thanks to the terrible system, so I had to wait a month, when my account was reactivated to continue playing Batman Arkham City. Hopefully in the next year or two GFWL will be a thing of the past. Long live Steam (and even Origin)!
FEZ is #1 on Xbox LIVE!!!
WOO HOO!!! I’d like to think I have something to do with this as I’ve ordered everyone I know with an Xbox to buy this game. I just read on Game Informer that Fez is now officially #1. It totally deserves it and if you haven’t already downloaded it, go do it now!!!
Girls on Games #1: Blanka and Dan!
I talk to Blanka in Washington Sq. Park about her take on gaming.
Enjoy!!!
Batman Arkham Asylum! A Retrospective…
Ralph and I discuss how Arkham Asylum was a bit overrated…
This is even more relevant now that Arkham City (a much much better game) has been released.
