Mass-Erection, Mass-Effection, for Mass-Effect, Son. (3)
Damn, this game is awesome.
How these guys managed to make an action RPG that plays as a shooter, better than most stand-alone shooters, is beyond me. That’s right, I think that as a shooter alone, Mass Effect 3 is as good, if not better than Gears of War 3 or Uncharted 3.
Then of course you have the whole RPG, story part of ME3 on top of the terrific gameplay. Top-notch voice acting on top of a very deep story make for a very engrossing experience. No matter what genre you enjoy, ME3 has something for you.
I also enjoyed the implementation of the Kinect for the 360 version, though it does not come without some issues. If you have any sort of decent sound system, the Kinect will hear random things from the game itself which will sometimes lead to an unwanted weapon swap or ability use. Also if you crank the volume when you play the Kinect will often not be able to hear your commands over the game itself. This can get annoying. But it is still a great addition to the game and provides the best way to swap your ammo (especially if you are a soldier class like me and have 4 different ammo types), while still having all your abilities mapped to tactile controls.
Mass Effect is just about as close as you can get to a perfect gaming experience. So if you haven’t already, go get it. Now.
