I Was Wrong About The Vita!!! (It’s Awesome)
Sony, Please forgive me! The Vita is an awesome little gaming device. And I have been playing it a lot.
I originally said that games on the Vita were basically watered-down versions of their PS3 counterparts and I was sort of right here. But one of these watered down games: Hot Shots WE, has been a blast and provided a competitive experience to what I would get from my PS3… Only on a small beautiful handheld device.
And the Vita is truly beautiful. When I first held Ralph’s Vita in my hands and looked at the screen, felt the perfect weight of it and the wonderful build quality, I knew I had to have one.
Another great thing about it, is that you never have to save anything. You literally have to just push the sleep button and then you can resume right where you left off, whenever you want to. This means I can play one or two holes in Hot Shots and then just sleep it until I am ready to continue. So short play sessions lasting under 10 minutes are no problem.
The other great thing about the Vita is it combines the touchscreen goodness of the iPhone with really good tactile controls that allow for varied, but also hardcore gameplay. The first game you should buy for the vita that really shows off the capabilities of combining touch screen and tactile (button/analog) controls is Mutant Blobs Attack. This game is awesome and seamlessly combines touch screen and tactile controls, showing off the great superiority of the Vita over the iOS platform for gaming.
The best part of the Vita has been playing Hot Shots while my girlfriend watches American Idol. The Vita has made this a much more pleasant experience for both of us. Happy wife, happy life. Get a Vita.
